News from the Interim Co-Executive Presbyters“Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts. (Psalm 85:8, NRSV)
It is great to be in Central Florida Presbytery for this Advent Season. This verse speaks to me about what may be happening in the work of the churches, the pastors, the members, the communities within our midst in these unique, troubled and fascinating seasons. In this season of interim leadership and changes, we are reminded to HEAR what God is saying, and speaking to our times. We hear the voice of justice spoken against the acts and attitudes of exclusion. We hear the voice of hunger and the opportunity to share our abundance of food, shelter, and hospitality. We hear the voice of compassions in the events of loss, tragedy, and illness. We hear the voice of peace in the occasions of war and conflict. In these voices and in others that God uses, we rejoice that we are counted among the people of God, of be considered among the faithful, and we are privileged to recognize that we can always turn our hearts toward God through the messiah Jesus Christ. Olivia and I trust that you will join together throughout Central Florida Presbytery to hear what God will speak to us in this season and in these months of interim ministry toward a dynamic future.
