News from the Interim Co-Executive PresbytersThis morning I saw a video which a friend commented, “Always a good one.” The video opens with a young boy packing up his backpack with food. His mother comes in and asks, “Where are you going?” He replies, “I’m going to find God.” His mother smiles and says, “Okay. Be back at 6 for supper.”
He leaves his house, and there are cuts of him walking down the street, riding the subway and finally settling on a park bench beside a homeless person. He is tired and opens his backpack, bring out a sandwich, and looking at the woman, shares his sandwich, a drink and a Twinkie. The video cuts to them laughing and enjoying each other’s company. When he gets up to leave, he hugs the woman and heads for home. Upon returning home, his mother asks, “Did you find him?” He replies, “God is a woman mom, and she has the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen.” The park bench woman, still smiling, walks up to another homeless woman with a sign asking for help and asks, “Why are you in such a good mood?” The park bench woman says, “I just ate Twinkies in the park with God.” The other woman looks baffled, and the park bench woman continues, “and he was a lot younger than I expected!” Where do you go to find God? Where do you receive God? Have a blessed Thanksgiving. Peace, Olivia and Hoover |
